Sea of Stars (Neon Blue sand and waves)

Blue sand and waves in a starry night are giving you the impression that the stars are resting on the ground in all their splendour. Thus, it shapes a scene drawn from stories or an enchanting process that happens in reality: Sea of Stars, Vaadhoo Island Maldives, a small island south of Male Atoll and one of the inhabited islands of Raa Atoll. The Vaadhoo Island is located on the equator to the south west of Sri Lanka in Indian Ocean. The island is famous for bioluminescent dinoflagellates that create the illusion of stars on earth...
The sea of stars of Vaadhoo Island Maldives attracts annually millions of tourists eager to capture the natural phenomenon that turns sea water into a colour of electric blue-neon. The reason why the shore and waves have those neon blue stained particles and that unbelievable twinkle, is due to a natural chemical reaction called ‘’bioluminescence’’, what happens when a microorganism in the water is disturbed by the oxygen, making the Sea of Stars, one of the greatest landscapes ever.

The lights are seen when a wave breaks on the shore or when you walk barefoot through the shoreline during its occurrence. The best time to experience this magical event cannot be guaranteed but according to many old folks it can happen at any time when “the moon is thin and comes up late”.
Although this phenomenon of illumination occurs in many islands, it is extraordinarily prominent in the island of Vadhoo. Vadhoo is a small island located in Raa Atoll with a population of about 500 inhabitants. This region is not only attracting tourists but also investors wanting to develop resorts..
Maldives is admired for its shiny pearl-like white sand and the crystal clear water that splashes over it, the beautiful coral gardens around the beautiful islands jam-packed with green vegetation and the famous diving spots with rare creatures such as the mighty whale sharks and the ever-so humble manta rays.

The glow of the night is a side effect of the blooming red algae, known as the ‘’red tide’’, so that during the day you can see the entire beach red. In fact, the beautiful blue light is the result of phytoplankton, some marine microbes that creates this blue glow and the amazing scenery of the Vaadhoo Island, attracting lots of tourists coming in Maldives, eager to see outstanding phenomenon.
This is the smashing Sea of Stars...Vaadhoo Island, a wonder of nature that attracts the travelers throughout the world
